Interview with Wilucia Green, May 26, 2022

Wilucia Green is the second youngest of Dr. Donarell R. Green Jr.’s six children. Wilucia and her sister were two of the five Black children to integrate Athens Clarke County Public Schools in 1963. In this interview she talks about the process of integration in Athens and discusses how the racial climate in the city was very different than other towns in Georgia. Green shares her frustrations and confusion with the difference in treatment of Black versus white students and she emphasizes the impact of seeing successful Blacks in her community growing up.
