Samuel Ernest Vandiver, Jr., interviewed by Hal Henderson. Ernest Vandiver served as governor of Georgia from 1959 to 1963. Vandiver talks about the 1966 Georgia gubernatorial election, including his decision to run and his subsequent decision to withdraw from the race due to health reasons, his political philosophy, highlights of his governorship (1959-1963), Arnall’s campaign for Georgia governor in 1966 and its effect on Vandiver, Vandiver's supporters in 1966, his association with the Talmadges, Herman Talmadge’s possible run for governor in 1966, Vandiver's views of candidates in the 1966 Democratic Primary, and the write-in campaign for Arnall in the 1966 gubernatorial election.
