Interview with Chou Ly, July 28, 2022

Chou Ly left Cambodia during the reign of Pol Pot and lived as a refugee in Thailand before moving to the United States in the early 80s. She and her family lived at Jubilee Partners before moving to Lilburn, Georgia. Chou returned to Jubilee as a volunteer and married Robbie Buller, who was a resident partner. In this interview she talks about her work for more than three decades as the Welcome Center Host at Jubilee working with refugees from more than 30 countries. She also described her process of becoming a US citizen and how her application was stalled when she refused to say she would take up arms for the United States. As a survivor of war she could not, in good conscience, agree to participate in war ever again.
