Interview with James Sims, Jr., May 13, 2022

James Sims, Jr. was born and raised in rural Oglethorpe County, GA, attended secondary school in Athens, GA, and spent his adult life in Augusta and Atlanta. He is the eldest of six children, in a family of community leaders and groundbreakers. In this interview, he shares memories of his time at Morehouse College, of pastoring at various Baptist Churches throughout Georgia, and of supporting the Civil Rights Movement through his leadership in organizations and support of his siblings’ role in demonstrations.
