Neal Lester is a professor of English at the University of Arizona focusing on African-American literature and theater. He discusses growing up in the South, his increasing awareness of race with age, and his views regarding white allyship, African-American identity, travelling as a black person, having discussions on race, and the belief in the power of personal transformation.
